Math Games K-5 are made for children in kindergarten through fifth grade to provide child centered activity for learning addition, subtraction and multiplication as well as developing spatial reasoning and strategy. These inexpensive games ($1.00-$2.00) are either game boards or card sets with instructions. Most games are ready to play while others require some cutting (cards), or a game board made by the teacher (Boomerang). All games are printed on colorful cardstock and include clear instructions for play. Chips and dice are not included and must be provided by the parent or teacher.
The cards in Math Games K- 5 are especially designed so that children who are forming number concepts will count the same number of spots as the numeral shown on the card . For example, when a child looks at the 6 of hearts from a standard deck of cards and counts the
symbols, she may count a total of 8 if she includes the small heart below each numeral 6.
The Math Games K- 5 cards show only the number of spots that the numeral represents. In addition, children are able to focus on number because the cards are not cluttered with cute graphics.
